Ansu Fati | 20 Years On | Football Manager 2020 Wonderkids

Welcome to 20 Years On, a series here on VivaLaVidaFM where we take one of the games hottest prospects to see where they end up at the end of their career in Football Manager 2020. In this post, we see where one of the most exciting prospects on FM20 this year – Ansu Fati – could end up in 20 years time.

Name: Ansu Fati

Birthday: 31 October 2002

Current Club: FC Barcelona

Nation: Spain

Ansu Fati has a very bright future ahead of him. He made his Barcelona first-team debut in August 2019 aged just 16, becoming the second-youngest player to appear for Barcelona in their history. His first goal came at the end of August, becoming the youngest player to score for Barcelona and the third-youngest in La Liga history. He has continued to break records – he is now the youngest Barcelona player to feature in the Champions League and after scoring the winner against Inter Milan he holds the record for being the youngest goalscorer in the history of the competition.

It is clear that Fati could have a very successful career in football. Let’s see how Football Manager predicts he will perform over the next 20 years.

FC Barcelona | 2019-2022barcelona

  • Appearances: 29
  • Goals: 4

Fati begins his career at Barcelona and surprisingly he didn’t last too long at the club. I would have thought he would spend the large majority of his career at the Spanish giants but instead he chose to leave the club for pastures new. Perhaps a lack of first-team football in his second season frustrated him. He left initially on loan to Napoli before leaving permanently in 2022.

Napoli | 2021-2022 (loan)Napoli

  • Appearances: 36
  • Goals: 13

Napoli brought in Fati on loan and he has plenty of first-team football with the Italian club. He played 36 times, scoring 13 goals, and helped the side finish 3rd in Serie A.

Inter Milan | 2022-2025inter milan

  • Appearances: 86
  • Goals: 36

In 2022, Inter Milan signed Fati for £12.75m. In three seasons he made 86 appearances for Inter, scoring 36 goals. Juventus proved too tough to dislodge at the top of the league with Inter finishing 2nd, 3rd and 2nd in his three seasons with the club.

Man Utd | 2025-2033man utd logo

  • Appearances: 305
  • Goals: 80

Man Utd spent a huge £86m on Ansu Fati in 2025, bringing in the winger from Inter Milan. Man Utd was his home for the longest portion of his career as he spent eight seasons with the club. In these eight seasons he helped United win two Premier Leagues, two Champions Leagues and a Carabao Cup. Having won two CL’s, it’s perhaps surprising that United only won two league titles. After 305 appearances, Fati left for France.

PSG | 2033-2034psg

  • Appearances: 3
  • Goals: 0

Paris Saint-Germain paid £31.5m for Ansu Fati in 2033. Yet despite his relatively large transfer fee, Fati made just three appearances for the club all season before moving on.

Real Madrid | 2034-2035real madrid

  • Appearances: 15
  • Goals: 5

Real Madrid signed Fati for £45.5m – a rather odd signing considering his lack of playing time at PSG. He made just the 15 appearances throughout his only season with Real before moving back to England.

West Ham | 2035-2036west ham

  • Appearances: 31
  • Goals: 6

West Ham, a club on the up in English football after narrowly missing out on the Europa League in 2033, signed Fati for £13.25m. He played 31 games for the club and helped them win the Carabao Cup.

Lazio | 2036-2038Lazio

  • Appearances: 4
  • Goals: 1

Lazio became Ansu Fati’s final club in football after they signed him for £1.4m in 2036. In total, Fati has commanded transfer fees of £190.4m across his career. Staggering! For Lazio he made only four appearances before retiring from football in 2038.

  • Caps: 115
  • Goals: 48

For a country steeped in recent international footballing success, Spain would have expected to at least challenge for European Championships and World Cups over the next 20 years. Ansu Fati would have expected it too. But a solitary 3rd place finish in the 2034 World Cup is the closest Fati came to international success. He made 115 appearances for the national side since debuting in 2022 and scored 48 goals.

  1. I absolutely love this kind of thing. Seeing how players develop, where they end up going over the course of a career, etc. Especially when they head into management and end up at random places. Messi managing in the Turkish 2nd tier (and struggling, mightily) is perhaps my favorite example of this.
